Strange New World
07:20
|
|||
This strange new world is impossibly clean
As we spill from the monster’s mouth into its dream
Our hands wave hello to the passing parade
While we lie on our chairs and relax in the shade
The milkman comes by and the mailman, too
The banker, the grocer, and the paperboy blue
There’s no reason to wish for things we don’t hold
Or to think of the future, it’s already sold
We’ve already died
Between these lines
Will we ever learn
How many times do our hands have to burn
Once there were dragons, now there are wars
To keep us afraid of dying, behind locked doors
Ready to sell anything someone’s willing to buy
Our morals, our bodies, or the clear blue sky
This strange new world is always the same
But each day the highest bidder changes its name
Tomorrow it’s Apple the next day it’s Chase
While we stare at the stars falling from grace
From all the religions to which we cleave
But no one knows what they really believe
If you can’t gaze into the abyss all alone
They’re happy to hand you a lie to call home
We’ve already died
Between these lines
Will we ever learn
How many times do our hands have to burn
Once there were dragons, now there are wars
To keep us afraid of dying, behind locked doors
Ready to sell anything someone’s willing to buy
Our morals, our bodies, or the clear blue sky
There’s one thing that could save
Every last living soul
And though it may seem shallow
We’ve got to have our goals
If we could put a computer
In the hands of each boy and girl
It’s more important than food
In this strange new — This strange new world

Fate's Pendulum
06:54
|
|||
Looking off in the distance at a Western desert sunset
Search the fading light that chases our dreams
Each day that passes the weight of time upon us
Reality that’s known is not what it seems
Ancestors before and generations after
Followed the future from the palm of their hands
Trusting the timeless muse of the wanderer’s cold laughter
Existence left behind in the trek to foreign lands
How can we know
Just what the future holds?
Spirits will go
The path that was foretold
Through sand and snow
A vastness the eyes behold
Blue skies that glow
Shimmer of triumph’s gold
Walking down the path of hope, dreams and freedom
Supposing that tomorrow is different from today
Unrestrained we cling to the arc of fate’s pendulum
Chance is always worth a leap into the fray
Landing on the other side of destiny’s equation
Everything seems different, uncertainty’s been tamed
Laughing in the joy of privileged exploitation
A strange and mindful knowing that much is all the same
How could we know
our dreams were already sold?
There is no regret,
No prizes for growing old
Rejoice in the Flow
The journey forever goes
Contentment to know
Faith in the road we chose
Walking down the path of hope, dreams and freedom
Supposing that tomorrow is different from today
Unrestrained we cling to the arc of fate’s pendulum
Chance is always worth a leap into the fray

Where Volcanoes Rise
07:04
|
|||
The only things I carried
As I fled the mountain’s wrath
Were this book of broken promises
And the memory of her laugh
As the fire came upon us
Like a red and raging flood
Or a snake fat with poison
Hungry for our blood
Is this our day of reckoning
Our descent into the mouth of hell?
If only we can find a way
Back to the grace from which we fell
And as the lava swallowed up
Everything we had been
Every house and road and statue
Every unoriginal sin
She spread her arms like wings
And rose high into the air
To some colder heaven
Leaving us bowed in prayer
Now the book stands as testament
To all that we have lost
So we don’t forget the lessons
That our blind faith has cost
And we won’t be condemned to fall
Into the same traps again
As we walk into a future
Where no one before has been
The few of us survivors
Have made a solemn bond
To heed the wise one’s words
And not to waste the dawn
To live in the moment
Without hate or fear or lies
Walk as brothers and sisters
Where volcanoes rise
Where volcanoes rise
Where volcanoes rise

When Heaven Comes
07:30
|
|||
I fall into the Sun
I am undone a fallen God
For every battle I’ve won
The glory’s wrought and its gone
When Heaven comes
I’ll promise anything
To buy my way beyond my sin
Forsake my swords and golden rings
All my wealth to wear those wings
That I can never win
I stare into the sky
With kindred eyes I’m far too blind
To see the price I’ve paid
For all these lies I can’t unwind
When Heaven comes
I’ll promise anything
To buy my way beyond my sin
Forsake my swords and golden rings
All my wealth to wear those wings
That I can never win
That I can never win
Every soldier fears to fall
Dreads the voice that soon will call
Commandment’s judgement down
All the blood he’s made to spill
In contrast to Heaven’s will
Floods around him till he drowns
He’ll try to trade his blades and guns
When Heaven comes
He’ll pray for mercy while blood still runs
When Heaven comes
He’ll fall into a million Suns
When Heaven comes
A million Suns
When Heaven comes

Taxman
05:17
|
|||
Let me tell you how it will be
There’s one for you, nineteen for me
‘Cause I’m the Taxman
Yeah, I’m the Taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don’t take it all
‘Cause I’m the Taxman
Yeah, I’m the Taxman
If you drive a car, I’ll tax the street
If you try to sit, I’ll tax your seat
If you get too cold, I’ll tax the heat
If you take a walk, I’ll tax your feet
Taxman.
‘Cause I’m the Taxman
Yeah, I’m the Taxman
Don’t ask me what I want it for
Haha! Mister Geithner
If you don’t want to pay some more
Haha! Uncle Ben
‘Cause I’m the Taxman
Yeah, I’m the Taxman
Now my advice for those who die, Taxman
Declare the pennies on your eyes, Taxman
‘Cause I’m the Taxman
Yeah, I’m the Taxman
And you’re working for no one but me
Taxman

Jefferson Dreams
09:24
|
|||
Choices we make in the present
Always seem to chase us
We never can outrun them
Sins of the Fathers still haunt us
Limiting our freedom
We simply can’t escape them
In this time
Why is there search for truth?
Wisdom is lost on youth
Prisoners of the caste
Hope for the new comes last
What guide has eyes to see?
I trust in the dreams of the future
More than I do in the history of the past
Destiny, the savior of circumstance
Road ahead, deliverance in the path
Questions that can never be answered
Are the ones we search for
To satisfy our longing
All the burdens we’ve learned to carry
They only weigh us down
With no way to grow younger
By design
How can we ever trust
A world that seems so unjust?
The first guilty as the last
These careless stones we cast
Ripple back to our shore
I trust in the dreams of the future
More than I do in the history of the past
Destiny, the savior of circumstance
Road ahead, deliverance in the path
I trust in the power of nature
To turn us back from the brink of the abyss
Find a way, transcend to the promised land
Close your eyes, make a sovereign wish
Every moment of our existence
We’re faced with many choices
Infinite decisions
Paths we take are now the open present
Forge our own reality
Accept responsibility
For our lives….
Where is the will to change?
Afraid of the unknown strange
The only way to evolve
From the clay which we crawled
Rise up as One and sing
I trust in the dreams of the future
More than I do in the history of the past
Destiny, the savior of circumstance
Road ahead, deliverance in the path
I believe there’s more than given destiny
We can choose, unbound from the dance
Fortune’s smile belongs to the holder
Of the key that opens doors of chance
